Lawn irrigation pipes are often being done with valves installed below grade, However, there is a protective pull box to be added when burying valves, the irrigation valve box! The irrigation valve box protects the electrical water valves of the lawn sprinkler system.

Reasons to Install Irrigation Valve Boxes

An irrigation valve box ensures the valve is in a clean chamber and also protects the wires from vandalism by rodents, as well as damages caused by climate change. An irrigation valve box is accessible for the maintenance of the valves and manifold. Valve boxes also protect other parts of an aeroponics system such as a pressure booster pump, solenoid Valves and manifold.

A variety of colors: black, green, and tan valve boxes are often chosen in a landscape that makes this practical piece of softscape. The installing a valve box in a lawn area, a green cover blends in better with the grass. If the installing area is in rock and sand a tan-colored cover may work best.

When choosing valve boxes, size does matter

If the box is too small for customers, it will be nearly impossible to sell. This defeats one of the primary purposes of placing the valve boxes in your shop or website. To achieve optimal selling, study the size that will be hot selling at your targeting market, a basic metric is to know the most selling valves and manifolds that end users chose for their irrigation systems, and also figure out the hot selling model of top vendors. Make sure the valve box you choose is big enough to accommodate the valves plus room for maintenance.

Irrigation valve boxes are also used in mower trafficable situations.

The valve box should have a strong design loading. Preventing it to break when stepped on or run over by a mower.

How Sprinkler System Works

The following overview will help you understand how a sprinkler system works in lawn maintenance.

Irrigation Valve Box

In most cases, the irrigation valve box will house your manifold and valves. Valves will be underground. Valve boxes are generally around the permitter of the sprinkler system.

Manifold

The manifold distributes water to valves, which are all individually connected. the manifold is the main white tubing that branches off from the long singular tube.

Pump Control Switch

A water pressure switch will automatically regulate the start-up and shutdown of the water pump when the valve is shut which prevent the pump from empty run damage.

Water Main Control Valve

A control valve is installed at the main water inlet pipe of the irrigation system. A control valve will greatly reduce any water loss due to a broken leaky manifold, a control valve will stop water overflow so the main can be repaired.

Electric Solenoid Valves and Electric Control valve

These valves are powered by 24 volts (VAC) from a power adapter, a solenoid valve may have a water chamber that consists of 5 water inlets and water outlets, that can lead to two tubes from different directions by a piston device. The water flow amount and direction are automatically controlled by the pressure changes.

The Electric Control valve is also 24 volts powered, they are installed on a tee part on water inlet pipes, which consist of a single separated manifold that leads to different areas of the lawn.

Lawn Sprinklers

For our purpose sprinkler heads are categorized into many types for different irrigation purposes

Such as Fixed Spray, flood, gear driven, multiple stream, pop-up, and rotary. Generally, sprinklers are laid out in a triangular or square pattern to ensure overlap or head-to-head coverage. The amount of water that the yard receives from a sprinkler stream lessens the farther it goes out, so overlapping the streams is necessary to provide even coverage for all parts of the lawn.

Backflow Preventer

In sprinkler systems, the water is distributed from the municipal water supply to the system. Sometimes backflow happens if the municipal water supply is interrupted and vacuum sectors generate in the tube. A backflow preventer can stop backflow water from reaching drinking water pipes.
