Field Visits to Manhole Covers Installed 15 years Ago

Over the past 21^st century, manhole infrastructure resilience and durability have become increasingly important topics in the urban development sector. To better understand the long-term performance of our composite manhole covers, we recently conducted a series of field visits to installations that have been in service for more than 15 years.

Purpose of the Field Visits

The primary objective was to evaluate how the manhole covers have withstood continuous exposure to traffic load,Number of vehicles passing, cover gap deformation, environmental factors, and daily use. These inspections also serve to provide clients and stakeholders with tangible evidence of the covers’ reliability and cost-effectiveness in real-world conditions.

Key Observations

Structural Integrity – The covers remained intact with no signs of cracking, deformation, or warping, even in areas with heavy vehicle traffic or huge number of traffic

Safety Performance – Anti-slip surfaces continued to provide sufficient grip, reducing the risk of pedestrian accidents.

Corrosion Resistance – Unlike traditional cast iron, the composite material showed no rusting or deterioration despite years of exposure to rainwater, chemicals, and urban pollution, the installation in extremely environment near rivers and pools are both share the benefits of corrosion free.

Load-Bearing Capacity – Independent load tests conducted on-site confirmed that the covers maintained their designed load-bearing standards, meeting or exceeding original specifications.

Aesthetic Condition – The covers retained a neat, professional appearance, the anti-UV type, which can maintain its color with minimal surface wear for many years,  or the normal type, with obvious color fading and will close to the color of concrete over the years, which reinforces their value in modern concrete city landscapes.

Client Feedback

During the visits, feedback from local authorities and utility operators highlighted high satisfaction with the covers’ durability and reduced maintenance costs. Many noted that, compared to traditional materials, composite covers required little to no replacement or repair, significantly lowering operational expenses.

The field visits reaffirmed that manhole covers installed over ten years ago continue to perform reliably, ensure safety, and provide long-term value. These results underscore the advantages of composite technology in infrastructure projects, setting a strong benchmark for future urban development.
